Safeguarding Policy

• Children must have permission from a parent or guardian before using FITinAI.
• Children should work through FITinAI together with their parent or guardian, not use it privately or unsupervised.
• FIA is a tool, not a person, friend, counsellor or emergency service.
• Children must not share names, addresses, school names, locations, passwords, private photos or family details.
• AI answers can be wrong. Adults should help children question, verify and discuss them.

FIA is instructed to stay within AI-literacy topics, avoid frightening or adult material, avoid professional advice, never request personal details, and redirect unsafe or personal situations to a trusted adult. The age-tuned demos use similar instructions. Questions may be processed by an external AI model, and FIA questions may be reviewed by authorised administrators to improve safety. Automated safeguards reduce risk but cannot guarantee every response will be appropriate.

Parents and guardians must participate in FITinAI with their child and remain responsible for active supervision, suitability, consent and data choices. Teacher-facing resources may help adults teach AI literacy, but a teacher or school does not replace parental permission for a child’s use of FITinAI. Schools must not enter pupil-identifying information and should follow their own safeguarding, acceptable-use and data-protection procedures. For children under 13 in the United States and children below the applicable digital-consent age in the UK or EU, the parent or guardian must provide any legally required authorisation.

Stop using the feature, preserve relevant details without sharing them publicly, and tell a trusted adult or your school’s safeguarding lead. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. FITinAI cannot provide emergency help.
